The mission of the Black Dog Ride is to raise awareness of depression and suicide prevention. Gertrude has been involved in the Denmark one day ride since 2012.

Each year, riders from groups around Australia, ride through communities raising funds and awareness. In 2024, she was MC for the Long Ride Home national gathering in Fremantle, WA.
